Description
Readings in Classical Arabic poetry (Pre-Islamic, Umayyad, and Abbasid) chosen from a variety of classical sources (anthologies, D?w?n collections, Encyclopedias and literary theory). Arabic Prosody will be studied in detail throughout the semester using al-Tibr?z??s manual of ?ar??. A selection of writings on literary theory discussing language, form, and poetic norms.Advanced knowledge of classical Arabic is required (at least four years of formal training)
